Durham Triathlon Club

Durham Triathlon Club has a terrific history stretching back to the 1980s, but over the last 5 years has expanded massively to its current 160+ members: from TriStar age 8, to our oldest Age Grouper who is just north of 75! The Club is based around Durham City but easily reaches out to the east and west with training sessions in Wolsingham, Chester le Street, Durham, and Seaham. Club athletes have competed in Spain, Austria, Holland, and Mexico in a range of events from the shorter Sprint event to Ironman and World/European Championship triathlons. There is a large group who take a more ‘social’ approach to the sport and revel in the smaller local events like Stockton, Hartlepool, and Cleveland. With racing organised in 5-year age groups, there is a measure of success available to everyone.
All of this is organised by volunteers and driven by a huge passion for Triathlon. Durham Tri helps their members to progress at each of the sports, encouraging them to improve, and giving them the tools to step up to the next level – whether that’s taking them to their first Triathlon finish, or a place on Team GB.
